Don’t Let The CTS Affact Your Life

Overview about CTS:CTS(Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) affects over 60 million people worldwide. CTS is the passageway from the wrist to the hand, and is made of tendons, ligaments and bones.

Carpal tunnel syndrome, or CTS for short, results from an inflammation of the tendons and other structures as they pass through the carpal tunnel of the wrist (the space between the carpal bones of the wrist and the transverse carpal ligament), which ultimately leads to compression and irritation of the median nerve.

In addition to the symptoms in the part of the hand supplied by the median nerve (thumb, index and middle fingers, and palm of the hand), pain may also radiate up the forearm.

The reason of CTS:The most common cause of CTS is repeated wrist flexion; simply put, our bodies were not designed to perform the same movements over and over again on a daily basis.

In an attempt to keep up with the demands the body adapts wherever it is used most, causing growth and inflammation.

Long term growth and inflammation can cause chronic irritation to tendons or ligaments. Other common causes of CTS include: edema (fluid retention), subluxation (partial dislocation) or direct trauma to the wrist.

Six movements to relief the pain of CTS :
1. Hold your left hand up, palm facing outward. Using your right hand, pull the fingers back toward your wrist until you feel a stretch, and hold that position for 5 seconds. Repeat the stretch on your right hand.

2. Press the palms of your hands together at chest height. Lower them towards your lap until you feel the stretch in your wrists. Hold for 5 seconds.

3. Spread your fingers wide for 5 seconds.

4. On your left hand, gently pull the thumb back toward your wrist until you feel the stretch. Hold it for 5 seconds, and then repeat the move on your right hand.

5. Curl your fingers into a fist: Start with your pinky finger, and gradually fold the remaining four fingers into a fist. Then curl your wrists inward until you feel the stretch, and hold it for 5 seconds.

6. Massage the inside and outside of each hand, and then gently shake them out.
